Top Ten Reviews Verdict

We were pleasantly surprised by the Turonic G5 Massage Gun considering it comes from a relatively unknown and untested brand. It has great power for deep tissue massages, and a variety of heads to suit the whole body.

The Turonic G5 Massage Gun is an intriguing product on paper, and after spending some time with it we’re suitably impressed with this powerful and compact massage gun.

Turonic isn’t a big name brand in the fitness and wellness industry - in fact, it’s an offshoot of another company that mainly specializes in audio equipment. As a result, we were skeptical when they asked us if we’d like to review a new massage gun they were releasing, but after spending a few weeks with the Turonic G5 Massage Gun, we’re happy to report that it’s able to compete with the best handheld massagers out there, especially when you consider that it’s much cheaper than competing models like the Therabody Theragun Mini.

It’s still not a super budget device though, with an MSRP of around $160, but you get what you pay for here, especially when it comes to power and build quality. If you want something even cheaper, check out the Pado Pado PureWave CM-07 Massager or even the HoMedics Percussion Pro Heat.

Turonic G5 Massage Gun review: Design

The Turonic G5 Massage Gun is a sleek and stylish piece of kit, with a premium build and feel to its design. It has a gunmetal-colored body, with back accent colors for some of the details. There is only a single button on the device, which serves as the power on/off button, as well as the controls for adjusting the intensity of the massage. This gives it a minimalist feel, but it does mean that you have to cycle through all the speeds if you want to turn the intensity down.

You also get a handy carry case that can fit the device and spare heads - this is perfect for taking it down to the gym with you.

Overall, we like the look of the Turonic - it’s small, light, and easy to transport, which makes it ideal if you’re taking it with you to the gym for pre and post-workout massages. It’s also not so ostentatious that you’d feel weird using it in a room full of strangers, like some handheld massagers.

Turonic G5 Massage Gun review: Features

The Turonic G5 Massage Gun is fairly basic in its functions, as most percussive massage guns are. It has five different intensity levels, ranging from 1200 to 3200 RPM with an 11mm depth amplitude, which is great for deep tissue massage.

There are seven different head attachments available with the Turonic G5 Massage Gun, each suited to different areas of the body and types of massage. Two of them have a stainless steel head, which means they can be used with lotions and massage oils. The Turonic G5 Massage Gun is quite light on instructions, but there is a leaflet explaining what each of the heads is best suited to - one of them is apparently an anti-cellulite head.

To make sure you don’t overdo things, the Turonic G5 Massage Gun has a 10 minute shut off switch - if you want to keep going, you can just turn it straight back on, but it’s a nifty feature to let you know that you’ve been going for a while.

Turonic G5 Massage Gun review: Performance

During testing, we stuck with the first couple of intensity modes, only venturing up to the third mode on a couple of occasions. The last two intensity modes are pretty extreme, which some user reviews were big fans of. Personally, I wouldn’t use the top setting unless I needed to knock a wall through, but it’s good to know that the power goes up to ludicrous speeds for people who need it.

We tested the Turonic G5 Massage Gun both as a general purpose massage gun, as well as using it after intense exercise and we were impressed with the results. It’s always going to be a bit subjective discussing these things, but I found that my muscles ached less after using the Turonic G5 Massage Gun when compared to normal.

The battery lasts up to eight hours, but since you’re only going to be using it for 10-15 minutes at a time, this is almost irrelevant. The long battery life does mean it will go a long time between charges though. When it does need charging, the Turonic G5 Massage Gun takes about three hours.

Turonic G5 Massage Gun review: How could it benefit you?

If you’re regularly exercising and find yourself suffering from muscle aches afterward, then the Turonic G5 Massage Gun is a great choice for some pain relief. It also has an anti-cellulite head, which makes it a great choice for people who are having issues there (though we can't vouch for whether this actually works or not).

It’s not just for more active people though - the Turonic G5 Massage Gun is also great for people who spend a lot of time sitting at their desks. If you’re stuck working from home, or in an office then this is a great way to relieve muscle stiffness, especially around your neck and back. Alternatively, you could look into getting one of the best standing desks to help your working posture.

Turonic G5 Massage Gun review: What we don’t like?

The Turonic G5 Massage Gun is a great massage gun, but it doesn’t offer much in the way of instructions if you’re new to using one. There are some small tips about which type of head to use on which body parts, and a few tips on how long to use the gun in a single area for, but it’s hardly comprehensive. If you pick one up, we’d recommend you watch some YouTube videos to learn how to use a massage gun if you’re new to these devices.

Beyond that, the single button system is a little annoying. It’s very intuitive, but sometimes you want to turn the speed down and you’re forced to cycle through them all to circle back around.

Should you buy the Turonic G5 Massage Gun?

If you’re looking for a good value massage gun then the Turonic G5 Massage Gun is a great choice. It’s easy to use, well-built, and has some serious power that will get out even the most stubborn of knots - just be careful you don’t overdo it with the high power settings and turn yourself into jelly.

It’s generally aimed at fitness fans who need something to soothe the muscles after a hard workout, but the various heads mean that it’s a versatile machine that works just as well for general aches and pains too.
