Maritime White: Warm, Neutral & SO MUCH MORE…
When it comes to warm neutral paint colors, it’s ALLLLLL about the undertone. And I’m not talking about which undertone YOU like, I’m talking about which undertone best suits the finishes in your home. This is why today, we’re taking a good look at Maritime White, to see if it’s the off-white paint color that you AND your home have been waiting for.
In order to show you RELATEABLE & REAL homes, I ONLY use photos from my Online Color Consulting clients. This means I don’t always have the quality photos I need or the RIGHT photos, but DEFINITELY have some SUPER helpful info to help you on your way!
What type of paint color is Maritime White? Is it beige or cream?
Maritime White is an off-white beige paint color. Why? Because whereas cream paint colors have a more dominant yellow undertone, beige paint colors lean more into orange. But that’s not ALL Maritime White has tucked in its back pocket…
What’s the LRV of Maritime White?
Maritime White has an LRV of 73. This means it’s not quite as light as a traditional off-white, but it’s on the VERY HIGH END of the light range.
With an LRV of 73, you better believe Maritime White will wash out in a bright room, but so will ANY color with a higher LRV. However, it’s slightly better suited to a darker room than many of the popular off-white paint colors as its subtle, but noticeable undertones help it battle the shade slightly better (but not as good as Sherwin Williams Moderate White).

What are the undertones of Maritime White? Will it look orange or pink?
While Maritime White has an orange undertone, it ALSO has a pink undertone. Now, this is where many people jump ship, believing pink to be a 4-letter-word. HOWEVER, it’s subtle and soft and is often the BEST CHOICE, especially for homes built in the 1990s or early 2000s. Why? It suits MANY of the carpets, countertops and tiles installed in these years.
Which paint color is similar to Maritime White?
Sherwin Williams Moderate White and Divine White are CLOSELY related to Maritime White, it just depends on how you want to tweak your undertones!
What’s the best white trim color to go with Maritime White walls?
Because Maritime White has a touch more pink in it, it can be a BIT fussy about its white partner and doesn’t want a white with too much yellow in it. I would look at the likes of Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace and Benjamin Moore Simply White perhaps, although even the yellow in Simply White makes me a bit twitchy.
Which type of paint colors look good with Maritime White?
- Maritime White doesn’t love being directly partnered with cream paint colors
- it’s quite happy with grays that are slightly (or more) darker than it, as long as they aren’t ICY COLD grays
- Maritime White also likes many warm grays like Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter
- Maritime White isn’t happy with many tan or beige paint colors unless they have the SAME undertone profile
Is Maritime White a good color for the exterior of my home?
You bet your BOOTY it is, especially if your roof is considerably warm-toned. But as with any home, it’s about making sure your paint color suits your brick, stone and roof. It doesn’t matter if YOU like it, as if your HOME DOESN’T, it ain’t gonna work!
