Versatile Gray & Perfect Greige: two POPULAR taupe paint colors!
Are you looking to get out of the wild world of gray but aren’t exactly sure what that looks like? Look no further. Today we’re going to take a look at Sherwin Williams Versatile Gray and Perfect Greige; two AWESOME colors sitting smack dab in the middle of the neutral world. But that’s not ALL they have going for them, so let’s get started…
In order to show you RELATEABLE & REAL homes, I ONLY use photos from my Online Color Consulting clients. This means I don’t always have the quality photos I need or the RIGHT photos, but DEFINITELY have some SUPER helpful info to help you on your way!
Are Versatile Gray & Perfect Greige gray, taupe or greige?
Versatile Gray is very versatile as while it’s more of a taupe paint color, in north-facing light, it can look more like a warm gray without flashing too cool. On the other hand, in a south-facing room, Versatile Gray doesn’t lean so warm that it visual overheats a room as some warm paint colors can.
Perfect Greige is DEFINITELY a taupe paint color and is one of the more popular ones. With its slightly lower LRV, Perfect Greige picks up a bit more warmth along the way, helping it hold itself pretty well as a taupe no matter what room it’s in.
What are their LRV’s?
Versatile Gray has an LRV of 48, making it a light-medium depth paint color. This depth of color holds up quite well in rooms that are super bright, without looking TOO heavy in darker rooms (as long as you’re okay with a slightly moodier, muddier look).
Perfect Greige has an LRV of 42, putting it closer to the medium depths. Again, Perfect Greige is great for well-lit rooms but can start visually weighing down a dark room if you’re not careful.
Not sure what LRV is? It could save your paint lovin’ life – read all about it HERE.
What are the undertones of Versatile Gray & Perfect Greige?
Both Versatile Gray and Perfect Greige are TAUPE paint colors (regardless of what their name says). This means they’re warmer than gray and cooler than beige. It also means they have violet-pink undertones.
Are these undertones noticeable? Yes, but they aren’t overwhelming. If you’re super sensitive to these undertones, you’ll likely find them too much, just keep in mind that they’re often a GREAT choice for the finishes in many of today’s homes.
Thank you to all of my Online Color Consulting clients who send their AFTER photos in; you make my colorful little world go round!
